Giving up alcohol for a period of time isn’t for the faint of heart. It takes a strong willed individual to abstain from nights out with their friends and the occasional drink after work. But once you pile up a few of those sober nights, you’ll start to notice a few differences in your body.

According to a study published by Healthline, there are plenty of reasons to go off the juice for a little while (or forever if you’re really dedicated). After 5 weeks of sobriety, they examined subjects for changes due to lack of alcohol. Here’s what they found:

The Good:
Subjects lost weight and liver fat, had lower cholesterol and glucose levels, found themselves less likely to overeat, had boosted metabolisms, clearer and more hydrated skin, got more and better sleep, had higher concentration, and an increased performance at work.

The Bad:
Subjects understandably felt less social.

If you believe in yourself enough to enjoy a buzz-free night out, why not give this detox a try?
