Drinking on the beach and vacationing in the Caribbean kind of go hand-in-hand, so we wanted to give some credit to great beach bars in the USA. In the spirit of August coming to an end, we are highlighting some of our favorite bars on the beach.

Wave House | 3125 Ocean Front Walk, San Diego, CA 92109
Okay, this is not just a bar… they call themselves a “lifestyle venue” on the Mission Beach boardwalk. They have restaurants, bars (yes, plural), live music and 2 wave machines called FlowBarrel and FlowRider. FlowBarrel creates 10-foot waves and challenges surfers from all over; FlowRider is for brave folks to flowboard and body board.

The Beachcomber | 1120 Cahoon Hollow Road, Wellfleet, MA 02667
This bar is old school, classic New England – a clapboard barn, originally built in 1897 as the Cahoon Hollow U.S. Living Saving Station. It is located amidst the Cape Cod sand dunes and rocks a 45-foot bar.

Sand Bar | at the Ritz-Carlton, 280 Vanderbilt Beach Road, Naples, FL 34108
Sand Bar is part of the classy Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Naples, but it’s actually a really chill retreat for those of us who are just looking for a nice place to have a beer. Hang out in their tiki hut on bamboo stools and make sure you’re there in the evening because the sunsets are unreal.

The Ohia Bar at Duke’s Beach House | 130 Kai Malina Parkway, Lahaina, HI 96761
You can’t make a list of the best beach bars without one from Hawaii; we’re pretty sure they invented the beach bar. Duke’s Beach House is an awesome restaurant and the Ohia Bar serves lighter fare and has live entertainment. It’s open-air and has amazing views of the ocean along Kaanapali North Beach at Honua Kai Resort and Spa.
