It’s no joke. A small brewery in Mexico, Minerva, has brewed what they claim to be the world’s first gay beer.
Minerva Brewery is confident their artisan honey ales appeal to the gay community. I personally don’t get the correlation between beer taste and sexuality, but then again I’m not gay, so maybe that’s why?
The packaging makes sense though. The Purple Hand recalling the famous gay rights protest in San Fran in 1969 and Salamandra representing a salamander, a popular symbol of the gay community.
If I were a betting lady, I’d bet this beer, or a beer of similar nature, would be a big hit here in the U.S. Anyone want to take me up on that?
Sorry, this is not the first gay beer. In 2005 “Queer Beer” was founded in Switzerland.
