Craft distilling extraordinaires, Greenbar Distillery, have released three new spirits with a very unique list of ingredients. By bottling flavors like cumin, ginger and bay leaves, the Los Angeles based distillery is proving that the savory trend lives on.
The first of the new additions is Grand Poppy, a liqueur distilled with (you guessed it) California poppies. Other ingredients include bay leaves, pink peppercorn, dandelion, artichoke, grapefruit and orange. We’re seriously intrigued by this one. Word is that it mixes best in cocktails and with soda or wine (preferably sparkling).
Next in the lineup is Fruitlab Ginger. Another liqueur but this one is made with fresh, dry and candied ginger with a hint of lemon zest. Greenbar suggests adding it to your cocktails for a spicy flavor or to your beer for an extra crisp finish. We’ll drink to that.
The last of the new releases is TRU Garden vodka and the ingredient list is insane: celery, mint, dill, fennel, coriander, thyme, cumin and vanilla. You’re essentially drinking your herb garden. We love a good savory cocktail and this “garden” vodka would be the perfect base.
All three spirits will be released in select markets this month and then rolled out nationally in the fall. Grand Poppy and Fruitlab Ginger will cost you $29 a bottle while TRU Garden is a bit more expensive at $35. These flavors are pretty out there, would you try them?
