Rocky Mountain Brewery and Cambridge Brewing Co. are teaming up to honor MIT police officer Sean Collier who was killed last month following the Boston Marathon bombings by creating a beer named, Collier Stout.
The idea for the “Collier Stout” came from Chris Vossmer, a former MA resident now living in Colorado Springs. Vossmer was visiting the Rocky Mountain Brewery (Colorado) when he was inspired and enlisted the help of his sister, a sergeant at MIT’s Police Department.
Now Rocky Mountain Brewery and Cambridge Brewing Co. will each put out a version of Collier Stout. The dry Irish stout will debut in mid-June with initial production of about 2,000 pints. Even better, the $5.50 beer will donate $1 of every pint sold to the Jimmy Fund, a cause Collier was heavily involved in.
And for all of you MA residents, the MIT campus shop will be selling Collier Stout beer taps, featuring a police badge.
Make sure you get in line for this memorial beer. A great cause from two great breweries.
This is great, add this to the list of ways to raise money for a great cause.
