If you know anything about whiskey, you know it takes eons to make! In fact, most straight whiskeys spend a least two years in a cask aging before being bottled. So when David Perkins founded West Distillery in Park City Utah with the hope of introducing an original aged whiskey to the market, he knew he had to rely on some more immediate measure in the beginning. So he did what any sensible distiller would do, bottled two before letting them age.

Silver Whiskey Western Oat and OMG Pure Rye, High West’s ‘white whiskeys’ are only considered whiskeys because they are passed through oak once – without soaking. For all the vodka lovers out there looking for something new, try out one of these unique blends in a cocktail:

 

White Whiskey Punch

Ingredients:
2 ounces Silver Whiskey Western Oat or OMG Pure Rye
2 ounces pineapple juice
1 ounce fresh lime juice
Pineapple wedge (for garnish)

Directions:
Combine all ingredients over ice. Serve in glass with pineapple wedge to garnish.

 

Ginger Whiskey Sour

Ingredients:
2 ounces Silver Whiskey Western Oat  or OMG Pure Rye
1 ounce ginger syrup
1 ounce lemon juice
2 ounces fresh ginger
2 cups waters
1 tsp granulated sugar
Cocktail cherries
Lemon slices

Directions:
Add whiskey, ginger syrup, lemon juice over ice into an old fashioned glass. Garnish with cherry and lemon.
