There’s something about cracking open a chilled Bud Light on a hot summer day. Budweiser is the most recognized American beer for a reason. It’s at every barbecue, every block party, every bar- you name it, they’re probably serving Bud there. You just can’t beat it. Until now.

Anheuser-Busch is investing $500 million worth of new equipment to make fresher Budweiser beer.

This doesn’t mean they’re improving the taste or quality of their beer — they’re just looking to shorten the time between bottling the beer and you drinking it. This investment would add two new $82 million facilities in LA and Columbus, Ohio, which means the beer will make it from the factory to your fridge that must faster.

This “fresher beer” push is most likely in response to the craft beer market sky rocketing in the past few years. In 2014, for the first time, sales growth of craft beer surpassed that of large-scale domestic brews like Budweiser.

Craft beer drinkers can make fun of us all they want, but Budweiser will always have a special place in our hearts.
