giphyNew York is a city that has so much to offer, including lots and lots of whiskey. If that is your go-to-drink, then this post is for you. Here’s the perfect itinerary if you’re in town for a couple of days and want to enjoy the best whiskey in the city.

First things first: don’t make any rookie mistakes! That means wear comfortable shoes, don’t dress too casual (whiskey is refined and you should be too), drink water through out the day (we don’t need any casualties), spend wisely and tip your servers (they deserve it).

Start your tour at lunchtime at The Dead Rabbit. It’s #1 on the World’s 50 Best Bars of 2016, which means it’s going to get crowded. However, the downstairs Tap Room is an amazing Irish pub that offers probably the most comprehensive Irish whiskey collection.

After that, kill some time until most whiskey bars open with a little shopping at Astor Wine & Spirits in the village. They have some rare bottles and great deals on independent cask releases. Next up, Fool’s Gold. This Easy Village location has a top-notch bourbon collection, beer and bites. Yum.

It’s now (hopefully) past 4 PM- time to go to Brandy Library in Tribeca. It’s luxurious but not too expensive. It has some of the most rare and sought after whiskeys in the world. Be sure to ask the staff for suggestions and order the gougères. For something livelier, walk to Walker’s Pub for their sublime selection of Scotch. Beware though- there is no list. It’s all about spotting the right one with your eyes. For late night options, go to American Whiskey if you’re looking for something national. Or you can go to Daddy-O of the best combo of whiskey and tater tots.

On to day 2. Begin at St. Andrews in the theater district. They’re great for lunch and single malt bent. Oh, and insider’s tip: they also serve obscure UK beer. For the second shopping break of your trip, we suggest Park Avenue Liquor, where you can find limited editions. Maryville is next on your adventure. Here you can find whiskey bottles everywhere- including the ceiling. The food has a wide range, from healthy to comfort. Walk down to Flatiron Room afterwards when you’re ready for a Gotham-esque place that offers international whiskey. Last stop: Caledonia. Their specialty is also Scotch so we suggest you have the pork belly Scotch egg as a midnight snack.

Happy whiskey adventuring!
