giphyLadies, it’s time to bring out the waffles. Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and that means you need to start preparing to throw the ultimate Galentine’s Day party! Coined by none other than the law-abiding, lady-loving Leslie Knope, Galentine’s Day is February 13th and is the day where you get all of your best girlfriends together, do a bunch of empowering activities, and treat yo’ self. So, wherever you plan to be on this marvelous holiday, here on some things we thought you needed to celebrate your best ladies:

1. The food: “Come and kick it breakfast-style,” as Leslie Knope would say. Galentine’s Day always has a huge selection of breakfast foods. Waffles, pancakes, whipped cream, and frittatas are a must. If you want to go the extra mile, cut your pancakes and waffles into heart shapes to show even more ladylove. A selection of fresh fruits and berries it always perfect if your guests want to add them to their friendship waffles. And of course, the chocolate. Galentine’s Day is not complete without the chocolate.

2. The booze: This is the most crucial. No matter how much fun you and your gal pals are having, they might still get disappointed that there they don’t have a man to shower them with chocolates and roses this Valentine’s Day. So, make sure you’re stocked up on the alcohol because we don’t want any tears on ladies night. You should purchase some brunch cocktails along with hard liquor. You can start with the Bellinis and Mimosas, and if anyone wants to take the plunge into the liquor cabinet, they are welcome to.

3. The music: Galentine’s Day needs its lady jams. You will need to make a powerful playlist of female anthems before your guests arrive. That, or either Beyoncé’s Run The World (Girls) on repeat for the entire party. You can’t really go wrong either way.

4. The activities: Your guests will probably be very satisfied with their Mimosas and pancakes, but you should have a few games lined up just in case. Dancing is always a great activity that will leave your guests feeling free and fabulous. You can also never go wrong with drinking games. Anytime someone says “boyfriend,” “relationship,” or even mentions a significant other, drink up. Remember, this is exclusively a ladies-only event; no boys allowed!
