There’s something about dining on the water. It doesn’t have to do with the food or the drinks. It doesn’t have to do with the price or the service. It’s just the simple art of atmosphere. And there’s no denying that we’re always game for a top-notch view. So, we did a little exploring and found our favorite waterfront bars around the country, because what could be better than a sea breeze with a drink in hand.

We begin our journey up north with Chicago’s lakeside restaurant and bar, Riva Navy Pier. If you’re in the Windy City, stop by for a wide array of seafood options, and an even longer wine list. And don’t forget your smartphone, because the sunsets here are definitely Insta-worthy.

Working our way clockwise across this fine land, we end up in Boston. The Seaport District boasts a number of waterfront eateries, and on the up-and-coming is a bar called Sam’s. Its combination of breathtaking harborviews and youthful clientele make it ideal for an after-work drink or two.

Next on the east coast, we’re talking Charleston, SC. Fleet Landing more specifically. It combines a nautical feel with southern comfort to create an easy, laid-back atmosphere. The next time you’re in the area, head over for brunch and ask about their special Bloody Marys.

Hopping over to the West Coast, our next restaurant, C-Level, is located in San Diego. It offers not only an ocean view, but also a spectacular view of downtown San Diego. Stop by at Happy Hour to sip on their house-made Sangria Del Presidio.

The last stop on our tour is a San Francisco bar aptly named Waterbar. With an address on the border of the SanFran bay and the Oakland Bay Bridge, this view is one of a kind. Just like their cocktail menu.

It doesn’t get much better than a warm August night on the water, so take advantage of the weeks of summer we have left and spend a night seaside.
