Tomorrow’s a big night for new TV. Not one, not two, but six of America’s favorite shows are back for their season premiers tonight. The marathoning starts at 8 pm, so make yourself a drink or six, sit back, and watch as the tangled mess of adultery, political nonsense, and post-apocalyptic life unfolds.
Of course, we’re here with a line up of drinks to go along with each show, so pace yourself. There’s no need to be a hot mess at work tomorrow morning. Or is there…?
8 PM
Madam Secretary – CBS
This political drama is back for its second season, giving us another 4 months to fan girl over Téa Leoni. Let’s hope she does some more ass-kicking so we can cheer her on.
While watching, you can sip on a Madame Almack’s.
- 1 ½ ounces Zubrowka Bison Grass vodka
- ½ ounce Cynar
- ½ ounce simple syrup
- One sprig fresh mint
- Champagne, for topping
Combine all ingredients except Champagne in a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake vigorously, then strain into a chilled cocktail glass and top with Champagne.
9 PM
The Good Wife – CBS
Jump from one political drama to another (but this time with a legal twist) with the Season 7 premier of The Good Wife. This critically acclaimed show is sure to bring some more thrilling TV our way, so we know that this’ll be a reoccurring date.
While watching, you can sip on a French 75.
- 1 lemon
- 3 tablespoons (1 1/2 ounces) gin
- 1 1/2 tablespoons (3/4 ounce) fresh lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon (1/2 ounce) simple syrup
- 1 cup ice cubes
- 1/4 cup (2 ounces) dry sparkling wine, such as brut Champagne, chilled
Combine gin, lemon juice, simple syrup and ice in a shaker and shake vigorously for 20 seconds. Strain into chilled Champagne flute and top with sparkling wine. Add curled lemon twist.
Homeland – SHO
If you’re at all serious about your TV viewing, you have a Showtime subscription and you’re anxiously awaiting the return of Homeland for Season 5. This season will be entirely set in Berlin, which in our opinion, should be a nice change of scenery.

The Leftovers – HBO
This eerie drama is back for the premiere of its second season. After effectively creeping out and enthralling audiences throughout the course of its pilot season, The Leftovers is back, taking place in a new location, and giving us MANY more unanswered questions.
While watching, you can sip on a Left Hand.
- 1-1/2 ounce Bourbon
- 3/4 ounce Carpano Antica Formula {Red Vermouth}
- 3/4 ounce Campari
- 2 dashes Chocolate Bitters
- Brandied Cherry Garnish
Combine everything with ice in a mixing glass. Stir to chill, and then strain into a martini glass. Put the cherry on top.

CSI: Cyber – CBS
CBS clearly owns this Sunday, with three season premiers in a row. To end off the night, half watch CSI: Cyber. Will anything unexpected happen? Probably. Will you actually be surprised. Probably not.
While watching, you can take a shot of whiskey. Goodnight.
