Believe it or not, there are people who walk among us that don’t like the taste of pumpkin. But that doesn’t mean they don’t deserve the fall beer joy that we normal drinkers have come to expect when the leaves change. Luckily breweries offer more seasonal options than the traditional pumpkin flavor we typically flock to. Here are just a few options to keep in mind when that pumpkin taste just won’t hit the spot:

Autumn Pale Ale – Bronx Brewery, NY

Don’t be fooled by that crisp apple taste- this isn’t a cider. The addition of west coast hops and subtle mint combine to give pumpkin a run for his money.

Harvest Ale – Founders, MI

Citrus and tones of toasted malt make this ale the perfect bridge from summer to winter.

Velvet Merkin – Firestone Walker Brewery, CA

An new oatmeal stout packed with creamy dark chocolate, vanilla, and coffee flavor. We can’t think of a better way to start piling on our winter layers.

Harvest – Long Trail, VT

Vermont maple syrup is added during the brewing of this brown ale. So yeah… it’s pretty good.

Nosferatu – Great Lakes, OH “Beer with bite”

Nothing says Halloween like a beer with the creepiest Dracula character of all time on the label.

Even if you ARE a pumpkin fan, why not break from the mold and explore the other gifts the beer gods have granted us?
