Fireball Whisky: Dare Ya

Here’s one that you should commend for the tagline alone: “Tastes like heaven, burns like hell.” If that doesn’t offend you, maybe the taste will.

Here’s the backstory (from the website), “Rumor has it that Fireball Whisky was forged sometime in the mid-80s during the coldest winter Canada had ever seen, when a mixologist turned mad scientist accidentally created a permanent solution to frostbite. The concoction slowly and quietly made its way around North America for a few years, a sort of secret handshake between veteran bartenders. Fireball took an important turn when several bottles were smuggled to the lower 48 from Canada.  Word got out and now we are just trying to make it fast enough to keep the fire burnin’.”

And here’s how to drink it, if not straight up. You first.

Atomic Coffee

  • 1/4 oz Fireball Whisky
  • 1/4 oz Irish cream
  • Mix and shoot

Christmas in your Mouth

  • 3/4 oz Fireball Whisky
  • 1/4 oz vanilla vodka
  • Top with cranberry juice
  • Mix and shoot

I had the pleasure of tasting this shot a few months back for a friend’s b-day. It literally tasted like a Big Red. Slight bite, but excellent flavor and aftertaste. Good stuff.
