ConeyIslandIt’s officially May, so naturally we’re in summer mode. Our favorite thing to do during these upcoming warm weather months is to drink beer. Lately, some of our favorite craft beer brands have put out some options we’ll be picking up this season.

NH craft brewers Smuttynose Brewing Co. is mixing up something a little less alcoholic than their usual bottles. To replace their year-round Star Island Single, Smuttynose has two new entries set to release: Bouncy House and Vunderbar Pilsner. Bouncy House is a 4.3% ABV IPA while Vunderbar weighs in at 5.1% ABV. Both are expected to launch by June.

On the other side of the U.S., San Diego’s Green Flash Brewing is busy debuting their new summer seasonal. Road Warrior, a 9% Imperial Rye IPA is unlike your typical summer ale in that it’s got a lot of strong flavor and definitely not sessionable. We’re used to knocking back several lighter flavored options but we’ll have to pace ourselves with this one. You can pick up a four pack or 22 oz. bottles from May to August this summer.

Meanwhile, Rogue Ales & Spirits is spicing things up right in time for Cinco de Mayo. Rogue Farms Chipotle Ale is made with jalapeno peppers straight from the Oregon farm, smoked for twelve hours and then added to the brew recipe. Like other Rogue Farms brews, the new beer is crafted with only farm-grown ingredients. Look for the 22 oz. bottles this month.

Newcomer Coney Island Brewing Company is taking stab at the summer seasonal world. Their first summer release Tunnel of Love Watermelon Wheat is made with real watermelons added to their wheat brew recipe. The 4.8% ABV brew will be available this season from April to September. If you’re in the NY area, find yourself a bottle.
