The winter blues can really knock you down, but sometimes it just takes a well-indulged daydream (with the help of a tropical cocktail) to inspire a fresh perspective. So for all of those who miss sun kissed skin, bare feet, and mini umbrellas in your drink, here are a few recipes to heat things up by cooling them down:

 

Frozen Pineapple Margarita

Ingredients

4 cups pineapple chunks, frozen

½ cup fresh lime juice (2-3 limes)

¼ cup triple sec

3-4 tablespoons sugar

1 cup ice

Extra lime and coarse kosher salt for garnish

 

Instructions

  1. Put fist 6 ingredients into blender and blend until smooth
  2. Cut the lime into thin rounds for garnish. To rim the glasses with salt, run a slice of lime around edges of the glass and then dip the edges in kosher salk. Fill the glass with frozen margarita and enjoy!

 

Tropical Sunset

Ingredients

2 oz. grapefruit juice

4 oz. pineapple juice

2 oz. passion fruit vodka

4 oz. silver rum

Splash of 7 up

A spoonful of maraschino cherry juice

Maraschino cherries for garnish

Orange slice for garnish

Instructions

  1. Combine the grapefruit juice, pineapple juice, passion fruit vodka and rum in an ice filled shaker
  2. Pour into two ice filled glasses
  3. Top off with a splash of 7 up
  4. Pour spoonful of cherry juice into glass and allow it to settle at the bottom of the glass
  5. Garnish with orange slice and cherries

 

Blue Hawaiian

Ingredients

1 oz. Blue Curacao

1 oz. white rum

3 oz. pineapple juice

1 oz. sweetened coconut cream

1 cup of ice

Instructions

  1. Add all ingredients into blend
  2. Blend until smooth
  3. Pour and enjoy!
