giphyConsidering more than half of the country is currently being covered with snow, we’re going to go ahead and assume that the majority of you are cold, bored and getting ready to strangle your shovel. Well let us ease your winter worries with a boozy beverage (what else?). We’ve come across a cocktail so sweet and soothing, you’ll be surprised by how quickly it warms you from the inside out.

Snow Day: (serves 1)

  • 2 oz. dry white rum
  • ¾ oz. fresh lime juice
  • 1 tsp. orange marmalade
  • lime wedge

simple syrup:

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 2 allspice berries

First, make the simple syrup. Combine sugar, cinnamon sticks, allspice berries and 1 cup of water in a saucepan over medium heat. Once sugar has dissolved, simmer for 10 to 15 minutes; don’t let the mixture boil! Remove from heat and let cool to room temperature. Then, strain and refrigerate.

To make the drink portion, combine the rum, lime juice, orange marmalade and ½ oz. of the spiced syrup in an ice filled cocktail shaker. Shake well for 15 seconds; strain into a glass and garnish with a lime wedge. Enjoy and forget about the weather.
