Is Anheuser-Busch becoming the Baskin Robbins of beers? Yet another new flavor rolled out on January 30: Bud Light Platinum. It packs more of a punch (6%-abv) than traditional Bud Light (4.2%), and has a slightly sweeter taste.

Look for it in a signature cobalt blue glass bottle.

It’s intended as an “upscale option that will help light beer expand into new occasions,” according to A-B, and attempts to recapture beer drinkers who have migrated toward wine and spirits. Can you really bring a scotch drinker back to light beer? Time will tell.
