Well, it’s official. Dreams really do come true.

“Beereal” (cereal + beer) is a THING. And a lot of breweries are jumping on the bandwagon. Most recently, Somerville Brewing Company of Massachusetts has collided your childhood and adulthood into one little can. They just released ‘Saturday Morning’, a Belgian-style ale that’s made using Cap’n Crunch’s Crunch Berries. Yeah- you read that correctly.

They’re thoughts behind this unique new concoction? “Life is short. Have fun and try crazy things.” They created this brew as a tribute to a local home brewer and photographer who once developed a similar beer with the popular cereal. Brewery co-owner Caitlin Jewell comments, “We always have Cartoon Network playing in the tasting room.” The best TV station to pair with a bowl of cereal, or now a beer (if you’re of legal age, of course).

Looking to enjoy some more “beereals?” Check out these breweries’ take on breakfast:

Black Bottle Brewery (Fort Collins, CO)
They have an entire series, titled Cerealiously, dedicated to the breakfast cereal beer. A rotating milk stout keeps things interesting and new every time you visit the brewery. They’ve used Count Chocula, Golden Grahams, and Cinnamon Toast Crunch just to name a few.

Fulton (Minneapolis, MN)
HefeWheaties is a cross between Hefeweizen and Wheaties (as if you couldn’t figure that out on your own). Although it isn’t brewed with actual Wheaties, the brewers pulled some of the same raw ingredients found in Wheaties to create this one-of-a-kind beer. Both Fulton and General Mills are Minneapolis based companies, so the collaboration was inevitable.

Big Time Brewing (Seattle, WA)
Breakfast cereal (including Corn Flakes, Rice Krispies, and Cocoa Puffs) added to the mash plus chocolate cocoa nibs and coffee beans set Breakfast Cereal Killer Stout apart as another breakfast of champions. With a whopping 9 percent ABV, it’s probably not the best one for first thing in the morning but it is perfect for winding down at the end of a long work day (breakfast for dinner, anyone?).

Noble Rey Brewing (Dallas, TX)
They start with their two house beers, Barracks American Brown Ale and Golden Rey Bavarian Wit, then add cereal to small batches that are only available in their taproom. The cereal is rotated randomly, so you never know what will be on tap that day. In the past, Barracks Gets Super Cereal has been infused with Reeses Puffs and Cinnamon Toast Crunch and Golden Rey Cereal Killa’ been brewed with Fruity Pebbles.

Brew Rebellion (Yucaipa, CA)
They brew several “beereals” throughout the year. Two of their most popular are their Apple Cinnamon Breakfast Cereal Milk Stout (for those looking for sugar + spice) and their Chocolatey Cereal Milk Stout (for those looking for something more indulgent).

So on that note, if you’re looking for us- we’ll be watching Cartoon Network and drinking our “beereals.”
