We heard you want to impress your date. Sure, you could take them to a fancy restaurant, but proving yourself in the kitchen is a major green flag. Wine and cheese is a bit played out, so mixing it up a little will make for a date night you’ll keep coming back to. Try one of these wine pairings for a delicious dinner.

Spaghetti and Meatballs + Chianti

Chianti is a traditional dry red from the Italian wine country, so what better to pair with than a timeless Italian dish? Thanks to the acidity of the wine, any food with tomato sauce will work nicely (think pizza, or lasagne) but for the perfect date night in, you can’t go wrong with spaghetti and meatballs.

Grilled Salmon + Pinot Gris

Think pinot grigio, but sweeter and richer. The sommeliers we know would never forgive us if we let you confuse the two. Pinot gris works great with lighter meals, making grilled salmon a great option for pairing. Pick these up at the store if you want an elevated meal.

Tacos + Sauvignon Blanc

We typically chase our tacos with tequila, but sauvignon blanc works great too! The fruit-forward white wine is known for its boldness, and in a fight-fire-with-fire mindset, it makes it a great match with other intense flavors (spicy, tarte, etc.). So don’t be afraid to break out the hot sauce and jalapeños the next time you open a bottle!

Sushi + Ginjo Sake

This one’s self explanatory. For the sushi lovers out there, sake is your best bet. Ginjo is a premium sake with a light, fruity flavor that will pair perfectly with your favorite roll. Whether you’re going the extra mile and making them yourself, or hitting your favorite takeout place on the way home, sushi night is about to get even better.

Pizza + Pinot Noir

A nice earthy pinot noir always goes well with a hearty meat. Why not a meat lover’s pizza? For an easy date night in, call your favorite local pizza place and grab a bottle of red on the way to pick it up. Mission accomplished.
