In A Fridge Far Far Away

Our Stories / November 10, 2015 / No Comments.

aqua-r2-d2-mini-fridge-1Thirst leads to anger, anger leads to hate, hate leads to the Dark Side. Or something like that. If you’re a Star Wars fan, chances are you’re waiting eagerly for the upcoming December release of the newest installment in the series—Episode VII: The Force Awakens. With the resurgence of interest in the series in addition to new viewers jumping onboard, it’s no surprise that all sorts of products are jumping on the bandwagon. Enter the two beer fridges you never knew you needed–until now.

If you never dreamed about having your own R2-D2 droid, you’re probably in the minority. And what’s better than a beeping droid who is constantly running away? An R2-D2 that delivers you beer. The self-propelled remote-controlled droid named AQUA R2-D2 is a fully functional mini fridge that can hold up to a dozen cans. It also has a faux-holograph projector and makes the familiar beeps we all know and love. If that’s not enough, AQUA R2-D2 provides Wi-Fi and is equipped with a projector that can play movies from the average Android phone. At a cool $9,000, this little guy doesn’t come cheap, but it’s one hell of a conversation piece.

If AQUA R2-D2’s price-tag is a little over your budget, but you’re still looking for that perfect Star Wars themed piece to complete your home décor, have no fear you can always take a stab at making your own Darth Vader Fridge & Vodka Fountain. The Vader fridge has been around for a few years, since artist/creator Tom Sachs first introduced his unique version. And all the DIY Vader fridge really requires is a small table with wheels that can hold a mini fridge and a pump system, a pair of boots, a cape, and a Darth Vader helmet. While this fridge and vodka fountain will hold more than R2D2, it’s essentially just a fridge with a cape. You didn’t really expect a Sith Lord to bring you your beer, did you?
