Getting Tipsy to 2016’s Top Tunes

Featured Story / February 23, 2017 / No Comments.

giphyIt’s still a little hard to believe 2016 is over. The year was filled with a lot of ups and downs but thankfully, it rocked musically. We took a look at Billboard’s Top 10 Hits from 2016 and decided to pair a cocktail with each track. With some of the catchiest songs ever written- no one can refuse to sing along to these tunes.

  1. Love Yourself — Justin Bieber: Twisted Tea. This song is perf for blasting on a warm, sunny day with your girl friends and singing along at the top of your lungs (probably off tune, but who cares).
  2. Sorry — Justin Bieber: Strawberry Daiquiri. Like this song, this cocktail screams fun.
  3. One Dance — Drake: Vodka Soda. This song is the ultimate bar song. Everyone knows the words. And everyone loves a vodka soda.
  4. Work — Rihanna ft. Drake: Sex on the Beach. ‘Cuz Rihanna. And Drake.
  5. Stressed Out — twenty one pilots: Any IPA or craft beer. This is for all you with an ~alternative~ edge.
  6. Panda — Desiigner: Tequila shots. If you’re listening to this song, you’re getting pumped up to have an awesome night. Tequila shots will jump start your evening for sure.
  7. Hello — Adele: Red wine. This song is for wallowing in your sorrows and also drowning them in wine.
  8. Don’t Let Me Down — The Chainsmokers ft. Daya: Long Island Iced Tea. This song is a little heavy and dark. Just like your night will be after a few LI’s.
  9. Can’t Stop The Feeling! — Justin Timberlake: Any fruity cocktail. Preferably with some sort of lid because you can’t help but dance to this song.
  10. Closer — The Chainsmokers ft. Halsey: Any tall boy of beer. This song was probably played about 100x times at every darty (or dager, or whatever you like to call your day parties).

5 Reasons To Drink This Weekend

We’re not the type of people who need a reason to drink. If we’re breathing that’s reason enough. But for those who need more, here you go:

1. The Force Awakens: The latest Star Wars film hit the theaters on Thursday and no one will shut up about it. The only thing harder than realizing you’re in love with your sister is hiding from all of these Internet spoilers. May the force be with you.

2. Fantasy Playoffs: If you were lucky enough to make it into your league’s playoffs, you’ve got a big weekend ahead of you. Pour some of the good stuff and set a lineup your friends can’t mock you for even if you lose.

3. Amy and Tina: The girls are back on SNL this weekend to guest host and promote their new movie, Sisters. It promises to be filled with A+ comedy and maybe a Hillary impression or two. Tune in so you know which clips to send to your coworkers while you’re counting down the minutes to vacation on Monday morning.

4. Moustaches: Recent reports claim that men with moustaches outnumber all women in top US academic medical jobs. You know what that means, gents: it’s time to shave.

5. Adele Tickets: They went on sale Thursday and fans had more than a little trouble getting their hands on a pair. It’s just one more way the songstress has held us in her grasp only to watch us crumble into a puddle of tears.

We’re not the type of people who need a reason to drink. If we’re breathing that’s reason enough. But for those who need more, here you go:

1. Adele: The songstress released her new album today and it’s filled with the heart wrenching ballads we’ve come to expect. Listen alone in a locked room with a bottle of wine to achieve maximum potential.

2. Breakups: Speaking of getting your heart torn out of your body and crying uncontrollably, Facebook is launching a new feature that hides your ex’s existence from your newsfeed after you part ways. Or, you know, you could just unfriend them like a normal person.

3. World TV Day: Is it a weird holiday? Sure. Is it probably made up? Absolutely. But that’s not stopping us from binging Jessica Jones on Netflix all Saturday and only breaking to answer the door when the pizza gets delivered.

4. Hunger Games: The final installment of the franchise hits theaters this weekend much to the surprise of parents everywhere who were certain it wrapped up a little over two years ago. The first film premiered in 2012 when Jennifer Lawrence was only kind of quirky and your friends still thought it would be weird to name their baby Katniss. Those were the days…

5. Friendsgiving: Gather the people you don’t mind talking politics with for a Friendsgiving this weekend. It’ll be a good test drive to see just how much food you can consume before losing all feeling in your limbs.

We’re not the type of people who need a reason to drink. If we’re breathing that’s reason enough. But for those who need more, here you go:

1. Celeb Wine: Diane Keaton is releasing “The Keaton”. It’s a red wine that’s meant to be served on ice despite aficionados’ objections. Open up a bottle, dress up like Annie Hall and try your luck at boiling a live lobster.

2. New Looks: Stoli is releasing new packaging for the first time in 80 years. That means the last time they had a makeover FDR was President. What’s inside hasn’t changed but maybe buy yourself a bottle just to be sure.

3. Benghazi: Hillary’s hearing (see: emails etc.) took place this week. She was visibly unimpressed and the Internet loved it. Watch it back and take a drink every time she sighs.

4. Thursday Night Football: In a truly upsetting display of what was supposedly athleticism, the 49ers lost to the Seahawks on Thursday night. If you had any sense, you turned it off before wasting away too much of your evening. Here’s hoping Sunday treats NFL fans with a little more respect.

5. Adele: Her first single in three years “Hello” was released this week and the entire album will be available on November 20th. If her lyrics don’t bring you to tears then knowing that you’ll never be able to do her vocals justice at karaoke will.
