CoffeeWine

Our love for alcohol is no secret (hello, this is a booze-themed blog), and we’re pretty sure we’ve reached official wino status. It’s not our fault; there are just too many good wines to choose from. We do, however, have a confession to make: there’s another beverage in our lives as well and it’s… non-alcoholic.

We’re also having an affair with coffee.

Truthfully, coffee was our first love. Once we learned there was a magical drink that could take us from troll to functioning human being within five minutes every morning, we were hooked.

This is why we were thrilled to hear about a brand new product on the market that touts itself as the world’s first coffee wine. It’s from Friends Fun Wine, which has already been selling different low alcohol, low calorie wines like Red Sangria, White Sangria, Rose Moscato, White Moscato, Strawberry Moscato, and Peach Moscato. Their new wine collection was created to combine the world’s most popular day drink with the world’s most popular night drink. The result? Cabernet Coffee Espresso and Chardonnay Coffee Cappuccino.

These new wines come in slim 250mL cans, making them portable, quick to chill, and recyclable. They are 6% alcohol, so just enough that you’ll feel good after drinking a can, but not too good, if you catch our drift.

We haven’t tried the new wine-coffee hybrid yet, so we’re a little conflicted as to whether this is the best idea ever or the grossest. We will have to get back to you once we get our hands on a few cans. Until then, here’s how Friends Fun Wine describes the taste:

  • Cabernet Coffee Espresso: A rich flavor of fresh cabernet grapes, espresso coffee, and a hint of chocolate.
  • Chardonnay Coffee Cappuccino: Sweet, refreshing Chardonnay grapes with vanilla cappuccino coffee and smooth hints of chocolate.

Don’t they make it sound so elegant? We don’t know whether it’s a marketing ploy or for real, but it’s enough to make us intrigued.
