SportsBar

National Signing Day was last week and some of our nation’s top recruits will be going to awesome college football schools (we’re jealous). These lucky little guys aren’t old enough to enjoy the drinking scene yet, but enthusiastic alumni sure are. They will undoubtedly be flocking to their alma maters this fall to cheer on their team and then hitting the town to visit a few of the area’s great college bars.

The colleges that got the top three recruits were LSU, Michigan, and Alabama. If you’re heading to any of these areas for football season, here are some of the best local bars you won’t want to miss:

LSU: The Chimes, Baton Rouge, LA

The Chimes is right across the street from LSU and it’s always filled to capacity with enthusiastic fans on game day. The best thing about this bar/restaurant is that it isn’t like the typical dirty college bar that has mediocre food; it’s clean, big, and has some crazy good seafood options.

Michigan: The Blue Leprechaun, Ann Arbor, MI

The Blue Leprechaun is the former Touchdown Cafe and it’s totally University of Michigan themed. They’ve got Bo’s Den, the End Zone, and Red’s Den and TVs are always playing tuned to football when it’s game time. At night they usually have live music or a DJ and dancing, in addition to good food, so you could stay there all day and night if you wanted to.

Alabama: The Houndstooth, Tuscaloosa, AL

The Houndstooth is only two blocks from Bryant-Denny Stadium and it’s been serving thirsty Crimson Tide fans for over 25 years. There’s a reason why it was named the #1 College Sports Bar by Sports Illustrated On Campus and by Playboy Magazine: It has everything – 36 HDTVs, 4 outside on one of the largest outdoor patios in the state, dart boards, pool tables, Alabama jerseys on the wall. They even have TVs in the bathroom so you won’t miss one second of the game.

For all of you lucky alumni that get to see these top recruits play, make sure to visit your old favorite watering holes.
