And on a crisp, chilly day when the actual drink is within your grasp? Talk about heaven. For Hot Buttered Rum Day (yes, there’s a whole day dedicated to the candy-like concoction), we’re kicking things up enough by adding one more delicious element to the mix: vanilla bean.
Vanilla Bean Hot Buttered Rum: (2 servings)
- 3 oz. dark rum
- 1 ½ cup hot water
- 4 Tbsp. unsalted butter, at room temperature
- 1 vanilla bean pod, seeds scraped out
- 1 ½ Tbsp. dark brown sugar
- pinch each of salt and cinnamon
In a mixing bowl, vigorously mix together butter, vanilla bean seeds, dark brown sugar, salt and cinnamon. Stir together rum and water. Place one tablespoon of butter into two warmed cups, then pour an equal amount of the drink over the top. Enjoy.
