Fifty Shades of grey wine

Whether you want to admit it or not, a lot of you probably gave in to reading Fifty Shades of Grey after it was released to the public in 2011. And that’s okay. Rarely do women have an excuse to lay at the beach and blatantly read an erotic novel, so more power to you.

Now, because of her ability to write down her dirtiest thoughts, author E.L. James is filthy rich. You’d think the surprise success of her trilogy would be enough, but when something gets really popular, we all know how people love to exploit it (i.e. The Twilight Series). The most recent product to come out of the success of Fifty Shades of Grey? Wine.

If you visit the website for the Fifty Shades of Grey wine, there’s a statement from E.L. James explaining what the deal is:

“Wine plays an important role in Fifty Shades of Grey, reflecting the sensuality that pervades every encounter between Anastasia and Christian. I’ve always had a penchant for good wine, so helping to create the blends Red Satin and White Silk felt like a natural extension of the Fifty Shades Trilogy. I hope all of you curl up with a glass to savor the romance and the passion.”

Yeah, sure. We’ll get right on that.

With the price of $17.99/bottle, we’re pretty sure that if we wanted to “curl up with a glass to savor the romance and the passion,” we could find something better and cheaper to partake in. We haven’t actually tried the wine though, so who knows – maybe it tastes like heaven on earth and we would stock up.

If anything, we can see this being a great gift for a friend that loves the trilogy. You can purchase “The Ultimate Fifty Shades of Grey Wine 2-Bottle Gift Set,” which includes a deluxe black gift box containing one bottle each of the White Silk and Red Satin blends.

If you’re into the books, indulge your guilty pleasure and give the wine a try. Let us know what you think and if you blushed as much as you did reading the books.
