Anything with the tagline, “Pure. Refreshing. Bacon.” is a must-try, especially if its vodka. The thought of drinking bacon was repulsive to us, but since we’re up for anything, we decided to give it a try.

We opened the bottle and there was a very subtle bacon smell. Then as we stuck our noses closer, and got a good sniff, it was gross. One of our team members described it as, “meaty garbage” and while we didn’t all agree on it being that extreme, it was in the realm.

Their signature drink is The Bakon Mary, so we happily mixed some up (despite the smell.) Here is the recipe:
• 1 ½ oz Bakon Vodka in a highball glass filled with ice
• Fill glass with tomato juice
• 1 dash celery salt, black pepper, lemon juice, and Tabasco
• 2-4 dashes of Worcestershire sauce
• Garnish with celery stalk and your favorite pickled vegetables

The bacon flavor added an exciting twist to the typical bloody mary, and overall, it was really good. It added depth, and smokiness that BM’s usually lack. You still get the bacon aroma in the cocktail (in a good way), even after you add Tabasco, lemon, Worcestershire and everything but the kitchen sink. It made a lot more sense why the bacon smell was initially so overpowering.

We might not seek out Bakon Vodka for every bloody mary that we drink, but if we saw it on a cocktail menu – we would definitely order it.

Not a bloody mary fan? They also have recipes for a Bakon Chocolate Martini, Bakon L’Orange, Hawaiian Luau, and even a Pickled Bakon Martini.
