Earlier this month the team over at Redd’s decided to make the statement that cider is not simply for the fall season with the release of 2 new flavors, Redd’s Green Apple Ale and Redd’s Wicked Mango. These flavors came about just in time for the warmer weather, and we were lucky enough to get our hands on both flavors for a little taste test. Let’s just say our team has discovered their new go-to beach/pool-side cider.
The two fruity flavors are polar opposites. Wicked Mango’s bubbly tropical notes instantly appealed to our drinkers with a sweet tooth and Green Apple Ale was preferred by those who like a beverage that’s a bit more tart and crisp. In the end, we were all agreement that both beverages would be very refreshing on a hot summer day.
Everyone knows we love a beverage with higher alcohol content, however Wicked Mango could possibly benefit from a lower sugar content. This one small critique, lead to the unanimous decision that the current sweetness level of Wicked Mango would make it hard to enjoy more than one or two cans. However, we suppose you could just switch to sipping on the tangy, sour Green Apple Ale once you decide your sweet tooth has had enough.
One week into spring, it only makes sense that we’re already pulling out our swimsuits and sunscreen in anticipation. It will be beach season before you know it (we hope), and we highly recommend grabbing a six-pack of both the Wicked Mango and Redd’s Green Apple Ale before partaking in a little outside sipping in the sunshine!
