Ardent Craft Ales in Richmond is taking a page from their ancestors’ cookbook. Actually, it’s more like their ancestors’ ancestors’ cookbook. A 300-year-old recipe is behind their Jane’s Percimon Beer, which uses American persimmons to give it a one of a kind taste.
The brew came to them by way of the Virginia Historical Society who has collected medicinal remedies and beer recipes from the 1700s. No big deal or anything.
There’s a sweetness to this brew that is worth waiting 300 years for. Not to mention the outer body experience you get from drinking the same alcohol that your forefathers did. Pretty cool.
This is one history lesson we don’t mind staying late for.
