tequila sunrise

Forget tips on interviewing and networking–we wish someone had warned us just how much we’d miss Spring Break after graduation. If you’ve got the blues from a winter that just won’t let go or just your normal 9 to 5, whip up a Spring Break-inspired drink that’s all the fun without the questionable decisions like new tattoos and sneaking liquor in your sunscreen bottles.

The Hurricane:
Fresh and fruity and straight from Bourbon Street

  • 1 ounce dark rum
  • 1 ounce light rum
  • 1/2 ounce Galliano
  • 2 ounces freshly-squeezed orange juice
  • 2 ounces pineapple juice
  • 1 ounce passion fruit syrup or passion fruit nectar
  • 3/4 ounce freshly-squeezed lime juice
  • 1 ounce simple syrup
  • Dash of Angostura bitters
  • Pineapple wedge, for garnish

Combine the dark and light rums, Galliano, orange juice, pineapple juice, passion fruit syrup, lime juice, simple syrup, and bitters in a cocktail shaker with ice and shake well. Strain into a hurricane glass and garnish with pineapple.

The Bicyclette:
A one way ticket to Italy, please!

  • 2 ounces Campari
  • 1-1/2 ounces dry white wine
  • Lemon peel (optional), for garnish

Add Campari to a wine glass; fill 2/3 up the glass with ice, and add white wine. Stir, taste, and adjust as needed. Garnish with lemon peel.

Tequila Sunrise:
It’s not Spring Break without Tequila

  • 1 1/2 ounces tequila
  • 3 ounces orange juice
  • 1 teaspoon grenadine
  • Ice

In a highball glass with ice, combine tequila and orange juice. Gently pour the grenadine down the side of the glass — about one teaspoon or enough to get the desired sunrise effect.
