Pumpkin punch

Pumpkins. Once October hits, these orange gourds and their flavor are everywhere –in your coffee, in your pie and most notably carved with creepy smiles on your front steps. Before you hit pumpkin overload this fall, make this cinnamon spiced rum punch. It’s perfect for any fall occasion and will make your guests very happy at your Halloween party. Here’s what you’ll need:

  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 12 cups water
  • Pinch of nutmeg
  • 3 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 can pure pumpkin (go for the real stuff, it’s worth it)
  • 2 cups of spiced rum

Combine water, brown sugar, pumpkin, nutmeg and cinnamon sticks in a pot and bring to a boil. Stir until the brown sugar dissolves and then let mixture simmer for 20 minutes. Let the punch cool and refrigerate for a few hours.

Don’t be freaked out by the pumpkin pulp at the bottom of the bowl, you’ll be getting rid of it. Ladle the mixture into a punch bowl or pitcher making sure to avoid any pulp. Add the rum and chill until you’re ready to serve. We suggest serving it over ice with a sprinkle of cinnamon on top. Cheers.
