Mardi Gras starts on Tuesday and in celebration we’re channeling a New Orleans favorite. The Hurricane first debuted at Pat O’Brien’s pub in the 40’s, as a solution to get rid of excess rum behind the bar. Nowadays, this sweet rum cocktail is a classic in the French Quarter and will be our go to this Mardi Gras. To mix up a Hurricane you’ll need:
2 oz. light rum
2 oz. dark rum
2 oz. passion fruit juice
1 oz. orange juice
1 tbsp. simple syrup
1 tbsp grenadine
Juice of half a lime
Orange slice for garnish
Add all the ingredients into a cocktail shaker and serve in a Hurricane glass. If you need us we’ll be celebrating Mardi Gras the right way – cocktail in hand.
