Drinking root beer will always be one of our favorite past times. We know you remember those summer days when you were a kid; you popped open a fresh bottle or can and immediately savored that sweet sassafras flavor. Enjoyable and refreshing—still, without ice cream floating on top, any soda will lack the deliciousness you deserve.

With today being National Root Beer Float Day, it’s time for you to relive your childhood—but with a twist. We’re talking about reinventing the traditional treat with one special additive: booze.

So let’s get drinking. All you need is:

  • 1.5 oz. Vodka (Vanilla flavored Vodka tastes best!)
  • Vanilla Ice Cream
  • Your Favorite Root Beer

Add a few scoops of the vanilla ice cream to a tall glass and then fill halfway with your root beer. Pour in a single shot of vodka (1.5 oz.) and then top off with the remaining soda.

Do you like your root beer float with another type of alcohol? Tell us your preference!
