When you think of a virgin drink, the Shirely Temple is one of the first that come to mind. At least for us. Some would even say it’s the most famous non-alcoholic cocktail ever.

If you don’t know, Shirley Temple is one of the most famous (child) actors of all time, so much so, by the time she was twelve she had been in more than 40 films. Beloved by children and adults alike, legend has it that her drink got its start when the young actress asked for a non-alcoholic drink at a dinner in Hollywood one night. The bartender obliged, and it caught on.

First off, it’s undeniably pretty. And once you take the first sip, it’s the perfect combination of fizzy and sweet. Traditionally, ginger ale is used as the soda, but any lemon-lime soda works great too. If you’re looking to experiment, you can add a splash of orange juice too. Whether you’re on a dry kick, or just aren’t an alcohol person, it’s a great drink to know how to make.
