peanutbuttercocktailMarch brings many wonderful things…daylight savings time, the promise of spring and PEANUT BUTTER. Today is National Peanut Butter Lover’s Day and since we consider peanut butter to be its own food group, we’re pretty psyched.

Peanut butter cocktails are generally pretty rich and decadent, so we encourage you to think less about your diet and more about your taste buds today. C’mon, it’s a national holiday.

Peanut Butter Bourbon Milkshake

This milkshake recipe from Saveur is served at Seattle’s Skillet Diner and we are so happy they shared this recipe, or else we would have had to move to Seattle ASAP. Just throw all of these ingredients in a blender, drink and die of pure happiness:

  • 2 oz. bourbon
  • 1/2 oz. maple syrup
  • 1/4 c. crunchy peanut butter
  • 1 c. vanilla ice cream
  • 1 c. ice cubes

Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup Martini

Have you ever had Reese’s Cup infused vodka? No? Good, you’re going to make it yourself. You have to plan for this cocktail about a week in advance because that’s how long the 6 oz. of vodka and 1/4 c. of peanut butter cups need to chill out together in a cool dry place. Once the vodka has been infused, strain it into a mason jar and keep it in the freezer.

As for the martini itself, just combine 2 1/2 oz. of the infused vodka, 1 tsp. chocolate syrup and 4 oz. milk in a cocktail shaker with ice. Pour it in the martini glass and garnish with mini Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups.

NutterFluffer Cocktail

Peanut butter and marshmallow fluff bring us back to our childhood, so we were thrilled when we came across this cocktail recipe. You’ll need to make your own peanut butter simple syrup using sugar and (duh) peanut butter. After that, it gets combined with marshmallow vodka and hazelnut liqueur. What should you use as a garnish? A peanut butter stuffed marshmallow, of course.
