If you’ve got a porch (or lawn chair), a hot day, and a glass of iced tea, you’re only missing one ingredient. The following recipes will help you complete the picture. Note: you will not see Long Island Iced Tea on this list, as it contains no tea whatsoever.

Bengal Tiger Tea

Add some bite to your iced tea with bitters and cognac.

  • 4 oz cold tea
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 2 dashes aromatic bitters
  • 1 tsp sugar syrup (see below for recipe)
  • 1 1/2 oz cognac

Mix ingredients and serve over ice, with a lemon slice.

Southern Kick

  • 1/2 oz whiskey
  • 1/2 oz Southern Comfort
  • Iced tea

Mix whiskey and Southern Comfort in a glass, and top off with iced tea. Serve over ice.

Whiskey Spiked Peach Iced Tea

  • 1 quart cold water
  • 6 black tea bags
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 cups peach nectar
  • Your favorite whiskey
  • Fresh peach slices, for garnish
  • Mint sprigs, for garnish

Bring water to a boil in a small saucepan; remove from the heat, add tea bags, and let steep 5 minutes. Remove tea bags and stir in sugar until dissolved. Transfer to a pitcher, add peach nectar, and stir to combine. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour.

Fill tall glasses with ice and then pour peach tea over, leaving some room at the top for the whiskey. Stir in 1 shot of whiskey to each glass and garnish with a peach slice and fresh mint sprig.
