Flemings

When you’re sitting down to dinner, sometimes all you want is a glass of wine to accompany your meal. You don’t want to indulge in an entire bottle but naturally they only have three or four vinos by the glass, which are usually cheap, or not what you’re looking for. Unless you’re at Fleming’s where they’re offering up one hundred wines by the glass.

The upscale steakhouse started their “Fleming’s 100” a few years ago and it’s become the main attraction for the restaurant (other than their awesome prime rib). The list of one hundred wines has evolved and in true 21st century fashion you can now browse through the selection on interactive iPad wine menus.

The list is organized by varietal and then ranked from lighter styles to full-bodied vinos. And there’s one woman behind the entire list: Maeve Pesquera. She builds the “Fleming’s 100” which includes 80 labels chosen by Pesquera solely and then 20 more that are hand selected by her and each individual restaurant’s local wine manager. The best part? You won’t break the bank. Thirty of the wine offerings are available by the glass for $10 or less. You can order your choice in 6 oz. pours, 9 oz. Big Pours or in flights of three 2 oz. pours.

We don’t know about you but one hundred by the glass options sounds like vino heaven. We have to wonder why other restaurants and bars haven’t got on to this genius idea? It’s easier to experiment, helps you decide what you enjoy drinking and makes for a more fun wine experience all together. We commend you Fleming’s; we can’t wait to indulge in the list.
