Kentucky’s making headlines this month for more than just basketball.

Brown-Forman’s Woodford Reserve has released a limited edition bottle to commemorate the 2012 Kentucky Derby, coming soon on May 5.

Featuring artwork from illustrator Michael Schwab, the 1-liter bottles will be available in early April in 45 states at the easy-to-swallow price of $42.99.

Interesting fact: In a contract arrangement with Churchill Downs, Brown-Forman has purchased the rights to declare Woodford Reserve to be the Official Bourbon of the Kentucky Derby and to be the bourbon used in the $1,000 special premium Mint Julep served at the event. However, it is the Brown-Forman sister brand Early Times that is used in the lower-priced Mint Juleps that are sold as the Official Drink of the Kentucky Derby.
