Did you know today is National Donut Day? If you didn’t, don’t worry. We’ve got you covered.
Naturally, we had to check with our friends on Pinterest to see what kind of donut-themed cocktails they have for us to celebrate with. We see a sugar overload in our near future.
Here’s what we found:
Drunken Donuts Cocktail
This recipe from the Cooking Channel looks really dangerous because we might want to drink it every morning in place of our normal cup of coffee.
Get a shaker with ice and add 2 oz. espresso vodka, 1 oz. chocolate liqueur, 1 oz. coffee liqueur, 2 oz. chilled or room temperature coffee, and a splash of hazelnut coffee creamer. Shake that baby up until it’s nice a creamy and pour it into mugs. Slice a donut hole halfway through and stick it on the lip of the mug. Or just eat an entire box of donut holes and dip them in your drink… because that’s what we’re doing.
The Glazed Doughnut
This cocktail is so awesome because not only does it taste like a glazed donut, it uses beer as an ingredient.
Take your shaker filled with ice and add 2 oz. honey wheat beer, 1 oz. sweetened condensed milk, 1/2 oz. butterscotch schnapps and 1/4 oz. vanilla vodka. Shake it up and strain into a martini glass (or 2 small cordial glasses, if you have a pal with you).
Kahlua Donut Shots
This recipe is simple and delicious all at the same time. Just get a few donut holes – this recipe calls for buttermilk, but we can see this working with chocolate glazed as well. Make sure the donut hole has a crust so that it can hold liquor without leaking. Hollow the holes out a little bit and place them in the top of a shot glass (don’t push them all the way down – they should just sit nicely in the rim). Fill the donut holes with Kahlua mudslide mix, grab that shot glass and enjoy. Bonus: You get to eat the Kahlua-soaked donut when you’re all done.
PS: If you have a Dunkin Donuts near you, you can get a free donut when you buy any drink. The drinks don’t have any booze in them, but we’re sure you could easily fix that.
