It may not be barbecue season, but that doesn’t mean that you’re should feel banished from your backyard grill. It may be chilly, or even covered with snow, but there’s very little that will should stop any red-blooded american from grilling their own meat. It’s part of our culture, and by golly, we’ll grill if want to grill. Even if it is below freezing.

So, to enhance your winter grilling experience, make sure that’ you’re using only the best marinades: boozy ones. And while you’re at it, bring a beer outside with you to keep you warm by the grill.

Beer Marinade

Ingredients
1/2 cup olive oil
1 cup dark beer
1/4 cup lemon juice
4 cloves garlic, smashed
1 1/2 teaspoons sea salt
1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
2 bay leaves
1 teaspoon dry mustard
1 teaspoon basil
1 teaspoon oregano
1 teaspoon thyme

To prepare the marinade, whisk together the oil, beer, and lemon juice. Add the garlic, salt, pepper, bay leaves, mustard, basil, oregano, and thyme. Mix well.

Whiskey Marinade

Ingredients
1/4 cup whiskey
1/4 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup Dijon mustard
1/4 cup finely chopped green onion
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 dash Worcestershire sauce

Stir together the whiskey, soy sauce, Dijon mustard, green onion, brown sugar, salt, Worcestershire sauce, and pepper. Enjoy.
