Just say it’s an old family recipe so you seem more legit.)

Dark Chocolate and Red Wine Cookies

cookie swap recipes

Dark chocolate and red wine are the ultimate pair, so it’s only natural they found their way to each other in a cookie recipe. Brooke from Brooke Bakes said you can really taste the red wine in the dough, but that once the cookies are baked there is just a nice hint of the vino left over. Here are the ingredients you’re going to need:

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cups cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 stick (1/2 cup) unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 3/4 cup white sugar
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup red wine
  • 10 oz. dark chocolate, roughly chopped

Kentucky Bourbon Balls

Yeah yeah, we know we talked about them last year but we just can’t get enough of bourbon balls. Rum balls seem to be a Christmas time staple, but think the bourbon alterantives are even better. Visit Edible Feast for the full instructions, but make sure you have all of the ingredients first:

  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
  • 1 pound (about 4 cups) powdered sugar
  • 5 Tbsp. bourbon (just choose your favorite!)
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 cup (16 oz) semi-sweet chocolate
  • 1/2 cup halved pecans
