The-Lockhart-Post-Photo-644x4152 Points for Griffyndor!

Potterheads– prepare for the best news you’ve heard since the release of J.K. Rowling’s final novel back in 07′. Located in the west end of Toronto, Canada, a new Harry Potter-themed bar, The Lockhart, has just magically appeared. Accio!

Co-owned by Matt Rocks and Pouria Fakhraei, assumably avid Potter-fans themselves, the Lockhart is designed to be a welcoming place not only for wizard wannabes, but to any and all. That’s right, Muggles included.

As true fans already recognize, the name of the restaurant alludes to the vain and self-absorbed Defense Against the Dark Arts professor, Gilderoy Lockhart– most remembered in the Chamber of Secrets. The bar tastefully references Harry Potter in various decor and menu items, but is sure to not overwhelm those who don’t have any inner Harry Potter guru deep down (we don’t know anyone like that). A stag, known to fans as a “Patronus” is printed on the front door, coasters, and various mugs. The Lockhart offers drinks such as “The Shacklebolt”–reference to pure-blood wizard, Minister Kingsley Shacklebolt– “Befuddlement Brew”– reference to the potion which causes drink to become belligerent–and “Ludo’s Debt”– reference to the Head of the Department of Magical Games and Sports.

So what are you waiting for? Get on that nimbus 2000 and make the trek up to Canada. A Columbus Day weekend adventure? For some of us, a trip to Canada might need a bit more planning– we understand. So here’s a Harry Potter themed cocktail to get you by until then:

 The Harry Potter: (1 serving)

  • 1/2 oz. brandy
  • 1/2 oz. Kahlua
  • 1/4 oz. butterscotch schnapps
  • 1/2 oz. half and half cream
  • Wafer stick to garnish

Place a martini glass filled with water in freezer for 2 minutes to chill.  Add brandy, Kahlua, butterscotch,  schnapps and cream to a shaker and shake until mixed. Pour into glass and garnish with wafer stick.
