CZ_LemonadeHere at Drinking in America, we’re still pretending that it’s mid-July. So, throw on your shades, turn some reggae music on, close your eyes, open your eyes, and get ready as we review our latest sampling endeavor: Cruzan Blueberry Lemonade Rum.

We finally got the chance to wet our whistles with this tropical spirit after it was released earlier this year. And, truth be told, it wasn’t half bad! As you may have guessed, this bev isn’t for everyone. It’s undeniably sweet, which leaves little room for much more. So, if you prefer your drinks complex, expect to be a tad underwhelmed. But on the flip side, if sweet easy drinking is up your alley, or if you’re newly “of age” and just trying to stretch your legs, this flavored rum is for you. The lemon flavor isn’t too tart, making it easy to appreciate the blueberry presence; it definitely mixes the best of both flavors. While doable, we wouldn’t recommend drinking it on the rocks. However, one way to shamelessly enjoy this berry lemony rum is by pairing it with freshly squeezed lemonade and a tad of lemon-lime soda–a recipe Cruzan coins as a “Cruzan Blueberry Lemonade Lush.” This duo instantly creates a cocktail ideal for imbibing poolside. Or lakeside. Or oceanside. Or windowside when you’re stuck at the office on a Friday afternoon.

So keep an eye out for the appropriately colored bottle the next time you head to the liquor store. It could make your next boring mixed drink that much better with very minimal effort.
