rachael-ray_4With spring approaching (for most) and summer temperatures creeping in behind, it is time once again to try your hand at refreshing colorful cocktails with fresh, spring-like flavors. If there is one taste that embodies the season’s floral breeze it is Elderflower. Its blossoms can adorn drinks and delicately float in champagne or its flavor can be found in St. Germain liquor made from the blossoms themselves. Either way, the aroma is fruity and refreshing and can be used in a variety of drinks. Here is one that is sure to be smashing:

Elderflower Smash: (serves 1)

  • 4 or 5 mint leaves
  • 2 oz. gin
  • 1½ oz. St-Germain elderflower liqueur
  • juice of half a lemon
  • 3 dashes of bitters
Put all ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake well. Strain into a cocktail glass.
