Today is an extremely important day. Not only is it Monday, but it is National Margarita Day-wooo!!! So, in honor of this day, lets go back to basics. Forget the frozen, sugary monstrosities you order at the fake Mexican restaurant around the corner from your house. Today, we’re making classic margaritas. And margaritas are so much better homemade with the right ingredients. Here’s our favorite recipe:

3 oz. tequila
2 oz. freshly squeezed lime juice
1 oz. simple syrup
1 tsp. orange liqueur
1 tbsp. lime salt
To make the simple syrup, heat 1 cup of sugar and 1 cup of water until sugar dissolves completely. Leave to cool.

Start with a cocktail shaker and ice. Add tequila, lime juice and chilled simple syrup and shake until blended. Place lime salt (salt with a little lime juice) on plate and press the rim of your glass into it. Strain margarita into glass and add a few cubes if desired. Sip away.
