What’s the perfect breakfast? If you ask us, it would probably involve bacon and some kind of alcoholic drink. Yes, it’s not generally the best idea to drink first thing in the morning if you have actual things to accomplish – but if it’s a holiday, you called out “sick” from work or it’s a cold weekend morning, we think spiked breakfast drinks are a beautiful idea.
If you still need to have your morning coffee…

For people who like to sit and sip, try the Pumpkin Spice Margarita recipe from Sauza Tequila. Just combine 1/2 cup of cream, 2 tbsp. pumpkin spice syrup, 2 tbsp. sugar, 1 tbsp. vanilla extract, and 1/2 tsp. pumpkin pie spice in a cup and stir it all up. Then pour in 1 1/2 cups of hot coffee and add 1/4 cup of tequila. If you’re feeling extra Martha Stewart-ish, garnish the drink with lots of whipped cream and cinnamon.

If you’re the type who likes 5 hour energy shots because sipping a cup of coffee doesn’t interest you, try the Bronx Bomber recipe from Austin bar, Peché. It can make a really big shot, or pour it into a few shot glasses – just combine a double shot of espresso, 1/8 oz. absinthe and 1 1/2 oz. gin and shake it all up in a cocktail shaker.

If you want to add some “oomph” to your juice…

If you need something different than your normal mimosa or Bloody Mary, try this Peach Bellini recipe from MrBreakfast.com. Just mix up 1/3 cup peach juice with 1 tsp. lemon juice (use real lemon juice, not the stuff from that stupid plastic lemon they sell in grocery stores) and 1 tsp. sugar. Pour that into a champagne flute and then top that off with champagne or some kind of sparkling wine. There will be a nice layer of peach juice and a layer champagne.

If you don’t feel like a mixologist in the morning…

We suggest Baileys or Kahlua on the rocks. And if you’re not into spirits that early, open a bottle of Guinness.

Got any breakfast cocktail suggestions for us? We promise to try them, just send us a recipe.
