Screen Shot 2015-04-09 at 9.13.19 AM In honor of National Beer Day earlier this week, the experts at RateBeer.com came up with a list of the best beer from every state. You won’t see the big commercial names on this list—these are craft beers. Most are imperial stouts and IPAs following the popularity of beers with higher ABVs.

You’ll find brews like Straight to Ale’s Laika Russian Imperial Stout at 11.7% ABV with notes of chocolate and coffee in Alabama or Pliny the Younger, the triple-hopped IPA from Santa Rosa, CA’s Russian River Brewery. In Kansas, Lawrence’s Free State Brewing Co. ages their Owd Macs Imperial Stout in old McCormack’s whiskey barrels to give this dark beer a slightly sweet taste at 9.5% ABV.

It’s clear that no matter which of the fifty states you call home, America is the land of the free and the home of good beer. Check out the map and the full list to see which beer your state boasts.
