There comes a moment in everyone’s lives when they realize that, while the holidays are a great time to catch up with family and watch home videos, they are primarily centered around alcohol. It’s no coincidence that wine bottle-shaped gift bags sales go up in December, or that Auntie Louise emails your mom cocktail recipes conveniently one week before your family is supposed to host Christmas dinner.

So, with Christmas right around the corner, we asked our friends here at Drinking in America to share their take on holiday drinking. Here’s what we found:

1. Mimosas
If you’re not sipping on freshly squeezed OJ and bubbly on Christmas morning, you’re doing it wrong.

2. Wine
Whether you’re the hostess with the mostest, or the guest with the best, you better have some fine vino to offer.

3. Spiked Eggnog
We don’t know if it’s the luscious combo of nutmeg and rum, or the sweet sweet taste of corrupting something so pure, but spiked eggnog is high on our list of favorite holiday drinks.

4. Drunk Family
From Uncle Tim to Grandma to Mom, there’s something so downright hilarious about seeing older relatives who have had one (or two) too many.

Study up, folks. This is important stuff. Go be merry with family, drink a lot of wine, and play Wii Dance.
