Foxhole // Miami, FL
Jaycen Cochran, a bartender for the popular new bar in Miami Beach, Foxhole, helped found the underground bar and is pouring up drinks for the locals. His favorite is Grand Marnier and since there are no menus to be found in the Foxhole, you’ll be constantly surprised.
Foxhole was recently established in 2011, has Foxhole found its niche in the Miami bar scene?
Foxhole was created by a group of locals who felt there was a niche in the South Beach bar scene that people really wanted but just didn’t exist. We felt that South Beach locals wanted to go to a place that acted like a bar but felt more like a lounge – we think people have really appreciated what we’ve brought to the beach.
I walk into Foxhole for the first time, is there a signature drink I have to order from you?
Grand Marnier
Do you prefer patrons order straight from the menu or do you like to surprise them?
No menus here – its all a surprise…..
We love the Foxhole theme, can you tell us more about the origin and how it came to be?
Foxhole has been a constantly evolving concept and we like it that way. When we conceptualized it we knew we wanted a “bar” but felt that it needed to be upscale to appeal to locals. We tried to design something that had bar bones but lounge skin and most importantly NO ATTITUDE. There’s a place in South Beach for exclusivity but its not at Foxhole. What’s been great is that our theme is now being shaped by our customers; I Found Foxhole was created by locals who were proud of themselves for finding the entrance in the alley.
Any trend predictions for the rest of 2012?
Foxhole was really at the front of a trend we’re seeing this year – more upscale bars that cater to people in South Beach on nights they don’t want to go to the bigger clubs.
What makes Foxhole unique?
The ownership our customers have in the concept is very unique, particularly to South Beach. People really feel like this is THEIR bar and we love it that way.
