When we first heard of vinegar as an ingredient in cocktails we thought to ourselves, if it’s delicious in salad dressing why on earth would we enjoy it in a cocktail? However this new trend is starting to grab more and attention among craft cocktail enthusiasts. Just last month, we explored how to create your own shrub cocktails utilizing a simple syrup made from sugar, fruit and red wine vinegar. Let’s just say those little concoctions turned out to be delicious, but we’ll be the first to admit that we aren’t always up for all the hard work it takes to create flavored drinking vinegar.

If you’re looking to enjoy one of these new trendy cocktails without exerting yourself, you’re in luck! Just last week McClary Bros. Drinking Vinegar was pitched to the billionaire, star studded of Shark Tank cast . These drinking vinegars come out of Detroit, MI and are ideal for mixing up craft cocktails with ease. Made with local Michigan fruits, vegetables, herbs and unpasteurized apple cider vinegar, the old fashioned drinking vinegars come ready to mix into your favorite shrub cocktail. With flavors like Thai Basil, Lemon & Ginger, Apple Pie, Beet & Carrot and Pineapple & Fennel Seed the possibilities are endless and we’re a little shocked that not one Shark wanted to invest.

Despite McClary’s Bros. strike out on Shark Tank, we have faith! Back in the Colonial- era, these drinking vinegars were all the rage and if they can make preparing a delicious cocktail easy we are willing to bet that they will succeed in the 21st Century. But if they don’t, you can always pass them off to your health nut roommate to chug during their next juice cleanse.
