Our countdown to St. Patrick’s Day has officially started and we’re already making parade and drinking plans. Starting Friday night, it’ll be all St. Patrick’s Day, all the time. No matter where you’re living, you can find some sort of celebration to join. Here’s our top cities that are doing March 17th the right way.

Boston, MA

The first American St. Patrick’s Day celebration took place in Boston back in 1737. Since then, the Hub has been honoring its roots with a huge parade and plenty of partying. The South Boston St. Patrick’s Day parade is the place to be Sunday, drink in hand and dressed in green. Post parade hit up the slew of Irish pubs they city has to offer. Our favorites: J.J. Foley’s, Doyle’s, and The Druid.

Chicago, IL

They dye the river green. Can it get any better than that? Chicago does it up right for St. Patrick’s Day with two parades this weekend: one on Saturday downtown and the other Sunday on the South Side. Everyone will have a beer in hand and there are plenty of Irish pubs to visit. You would find us at The Irish Oak by Wrigley Field downing Guinness and paying homage to Ireland.

New York, NY

Pub crawls, parades and plenty of beer. NYC has the biggest St. Patty’s Day parade around with over 150,000 marchers and basically the entire city looking on. After indulging in your own stock of Guinness, go on an Irish tour of the Big Apple. Start the festivities off at Sean Og for an Irish whiskey. Next hit up the timeless McSorley’s for a $5 house brew. Finally end your evening at Molly’s Shebeen for the ultimate Irish experience.

Savannah, GA

No matter what day of the week it falls on, Savannah always celebrates St. Patrick’s Day on March 17th. This Monday, one of the largest parades in the U.S. will sweep through the city along with a mass amount of green beads, beer and good times. After the parade, head to Kevin Barry’s Pub (along with the rest of the city) to celebrate in true Irish style.

Scranton, PA

One of the biggest St. Patrick’s Day parades in the country will hit Scranton this Saturday. The celebration (and drinking) starts at 10 a.m. and continues all weekend long. The hot spot where you’ll find most people drinking Guinness and embracing their Irish heritage is Kildare’s. Make sure to get there early – you’ll want to celebrate here all day long.

Where are you celebrating St. Patrick’s Day this year? Tell us your favorite Irish pubs and parades to visit on March 17th.
